The Microwave Baked Potato Recipe is simple, easy, and fast. If you are in a hurry or can’t wait to eat your spud, then this is the way to go.
Back in the days before there was such a thing as a microwave baked potato, you had to actually sit around for hours, days, weeks, waiting for that darn potato to cook fully through. But now thanks to the advances in kitchen technology….you’ll be eating your baked potato in a matter of mere minutes!!
How To Make The Microwave Baked Potato Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 medium sized potato
- 2-3 tablespoons of water
- A bowl (see how simple this is)
- Microwave Oven (Just in case you couldn’t figure it out by yourself)
Directions
- Scrub the potato clean (Go to Wal-Mart, spend $1.00 on a brush and use it)
- With a fork puncture some holes in the potato so that it won’t explode while cooking.
- Place the potato in a bowl containing 2-3 tablespoons of water
- Place the bowl containing the water and potato into the microwave and cook on high for 4 minutes.
- Turn the potato over. (I know this is complicated…try to follow along)
- Cook on high for another 4-5minutes
- Poke the potato with a fork. If the fork goes through easy then it should be ready.
If you are going to use a “large” potato then the cooking time will probably be more like 5-6 minutes on each side. If you are unsure about the time just keep testing the potato with the fork until it goes through easy.

I have never used the microwave to bake a potato. How long does it take to cook a medium size potato at high setting in the microwave?
@David a medium size potato will take about 8 minutes. Make sure to turn the potato about 4 minutes into it. Hope that helped.
