What I learned from experience:
     *Use 1 1/2 cups of cheddar cheese in the sauce
     *Use  2 cups of milk or the cheese mixture will be too thick
     *Don&#039;t sprinkle any cheese on top to start with
     *Bake the scalloped potatoes for 1 hour 15 minutes COVERED.    
     *After the inital baking uncover and sprinkle the 1/2 cup of cheese on top.  Place back in oven at 350 and keep a careful eye on the cheese you just sprinkled on top.  It tends to cook very fast and it is not that good if it gets burnt.  Should probably not need more than 10 minutes or so.</description>
