Rather than throwing the meatloaf drippings away, why not wait until everything is done cooking, remove the meatloaf and keep it warm, add some water to the drippings, and then take a little flour stirring it into a smooth paste with some water, then add it to the water and dripping and let it thicken while stirring and come to a boil making a wonderful gravy that you could use on top of the meat loaf or on some potatoes you could have thrown into the crock pot about half way through. You might need to season the gravy with a little salt and pepper or onion salt according to your taste. A good rule of thumb is to use 2 T flour for every 8 oz. of liquid (drippings + water).

You would be suprised what you can cook in a crock pot. Meat loaf is just the beginning. I remember when my mom would cook meat loaf in the slow cooker. She also was able to whip up just about every other meal you could think of in a crock pot. Keep checking back...there will be big news concerning my crock pot recipes!!!
