Ingredients
- Potatoes The ideal baking potato is a Russet or Idaho potato.
- Enough olive oil to give your potato a rub down
Directions
- Wash the potatoes. Leave the skins on.
- Take a fork and punch it into the potato a few times
- Rub the potato with the olive oil
- Preheat oven to 400
- Place the potato on a baking pan and place in oven
- Bake the potato for one hour
- A knife or fork should easily go through the potato when done. The temperature of the inside of the potato should be around 190f
Wrapping potatoes in foil before baking is a no-no. You will end up with steamed potatoes. Not the perfect baked potato. Microwaving the baked potato is a bigger no-no. Oven baked potatoes need to be cooked in the oven. Want a perfect baked potato? Then follow the directions!

- 400 degrees – 50 to 60 minutes
375 degrees – 60 to 70 minutes
350 degrees – 70 to 90 minutes
325 degrees – 90 to 110 minutes

See, I was taught incorrectly to wrap them in foil first plus we had these potato spikes that were long aluminum nails that you put through the potato so it supposedly cooked faster. Now I know the right way to make my baked potatoes, thanks!
